1. About these Terms
These Terms govern access to and use of citizensliberation.com, its public information, forms, member-login features and other services expressly made available through the website (together, the "Site"). The Site is operated by Citizens Liberation Advocacy Initiative, a Nigerian corporate body registered under CAC number 59280, with its official contact address at 50, Sunmonu Street, Oke-Ira, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos Nigeria.
By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. An online membership applicant or member-account user must also comply with the then-effective Membership Eligibility Rules and Code of Conduct and CLAI's registered constitution. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.
2. Purpose and status of the Site
The Site provides information about CLAI, civic education, programmes, leadership, events, resources, membership, volunteering, partnership and contact routes. CLAI is not the Independent National Electoral Commission, a court, a law-enforcement body or another public authority. Unless a page expressly says otherwise, CLAI does not speak for a government body, political party, candidate, partner or featured third party.
The Site supports non-partisan civic participation. It must not be used to imply that CLAI endorses a political party or candidate without CLAI's express written authorisation.
3. Educational information, not legal advice
Site content is general civic and educational information. It is not legal advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional or information from the responsible authority.
Electoral rules, dates, registration arrangements, venues and official procedures may change. Confirm time-sensitive information with the relevant official electoral or public authority before acting. CLAI aims to identify sources and review dates for detailed guidance but does not guarantee that every item will remain current at all times.
4. Who may use the Site
Anyone may view the public information, subject to these Terms. A person must be at least 18 years old and a Nigerian national to apply for CLAI membership or create a member account. People who do not meet membership eligibility may still access public educational content or contact CLAI about a lawful partnership or programme, but that contact does not confer membership.
5. Acceptable use
You may view, print or share a reasonable extract of CLAI-authored public text for personal, educational or other non-commercial purposes if you preserve its meaning, identify CLAI as the source and include a link to the original page where practicable. This permission does not cover photographs, portraits, audio, video, logos, archive material, third-party content or material carrying a separate notice.
You must not:
- use the Site unlawfully, fraudulently or in a way that infringes another person's rights;
- harass, threaten, defame, discriminate against or incite violence against any person or group;
- impersonate CLAI, a CLAI officer, a member, a public authority or another person;
- use CLAI's name, logo, content, membership or events to imply an unauthorised endorsement, chapter, partnership, fundraising campaign or political-party affiliation;
- submit false, misleading, malicious, unlawful or irrelevant information;
- send identity documents, financial credentials, malware, unsolicited advertising or another person's confidential data through a Site form;
- attempt to obtain unauthorised access to an account, the WordPress administration area, server, database or another connected system;
- probe, scan, circumvent or interfere with security, access controls, rate limits or Site operation;
- use automated scraping, extraction or bulk requests that place an unreasonable load on the Site, disregard technical controls or build a personal-data database;
- copy, alter, republish, sell or commercially exploit substantial Site content without written permission; or
- remove ownership, attribution, copyright or other notices.
Reasonable indexing by ordinary search engines and assistive technologies is permitted where it follows published technical controls and applicable law.
6. Forms, messages and submissions
You are responsible for information you submit and must have the right to provide it. Provide only what is necessary for the stated purpose. Do not submit a voter card, NIN, passport, driver's licence, other identity-document image, full financial credential or sensitive information that CLAI has not expressly requested through an approved secure process.
You keep ownership of your submission. You give CLAI a limited, non-exclusive permission to receive, copy, store and use it only as reasonably necessary to respond, administer the requested activity, maintain security, comply with law and exercise or defend legal rights. CLAI will not publish a private enquiry, testimonial, image or other identifiable submission for promotion without an appropriate separate permission or other lawful basis.
Submitting an enquiry does not create a partnership, agency, endorsement, legal-representation relationship, membership or obligation to accept a proposal.
7. Member accounts
If CLAI approves a member account, the member must provide accurate information, keep login credentials confidential, use only their own account and notify CLAI promptly of suspected unauthorised use. The member is responsible for activity performed through the account until CLAI is notified, except to the extent the activity results from CLAI's failure to apply appropriate security.
CLAI may restrict or suspend an account where reasonably necessary to protect the member, other people, CLAI or the Site; investigate suspected misuse; comply with law; or apply the then-effective Membership Rules and CLAI's registered constitution. A temporary technical restriction is not by itself a final membership decision. Any membership decision or appeal must follow the governing instrument and any then-effective Rules.
8. Intellectual property
CLAI claims rights only in material it created or is documented as authorised to use. No use of the CLAI name, logo or brand to suggest affiliation, endorsement, a local chapter, fundraising authority or spokesperson status is allowed without prior written permission.
Third-party photographs, archive material, videos, marks and linked materials remain subject to their respective owners' rights. No licence to those materials is granted by these Terms. A separate licence shown with a resource controls that resource.
9. Third-party services and links
The Site may link to public authorities, YouTube, WhatsApp or other third-party websites and services. A link is supplied for convenience and does not, by itself, mean endorsement or responsibility for the third party. Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy notices.
YouTube videos on the gallery page are not loaded until a visitor chooses to load one. The pre-load notice and our Privacy Policy explain the resulting third-party connection.
10. Availability and changes
We may maintain, improve, correct, restrict or discontinue all or part of the Site. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. We will take reasonable care with Site security and content, but internet and third-party-service failures may occur.
We may update these Terms when the Site, CLAI's activities or applicable law changes. The current version and effective date will be published here. A material change affecting an existing member will be notified through a reasonable channel before it applies where practicable.
11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Site and its general information are provided on an "as available" basis. CLAI does not guarantee that general information will meet every user's circumstances or that every third-party link will remain available, safe or accurate.
To the extent permitted by law, CLAI is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising solely from reliance on general Site information, a third-party service or an interruption outside CLAI's reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, breach of data-protection obligations, or another non-excludable statutory right or remedy.
12. Enforcement and severability
CLAI may remove a submission, block a request, restrict access, preserve evidence or refer a matter to an appropriate authority where reasonably necessary to address a breach, security threat or unlawful conduct. Any response will be proportionate to the circumstances and subject to applicable law.
If a provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Before starting proceedings, please send a clear written description of the dispute to admin@citizensliberation.com so the parties can attempt a good-faith resolution. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent protective relief or exercising a statutory complaint right. Any unresolved dispute is subject to a court of competent jurisdiction in Nigeria.
